President of First Lawyers Trust Company
John has spent his career in the financial services industry and
the private practice of law. He initiated the formation of
First Lawyers Trust Company and led the effort to secure its
charter, following which he was named its first President.
Prior to his association with First Lawyers Trust, he served as
Minnesota Chairman of Northern Trust, and before that, as the
President and CEO who opened Northern's first Minnesota office in
2005. From 2001 through 2004, he was Executive Vice
President, then President and CEO of Dorsey & Whitney Trust
Company (during which time he also served of counsel to Dorsey
& Whitney LLP). Earlier, he was Senior Vice President and
head of personal trust administration for U.S. Bancorp. From
1976 until 1990, John practiced law with the Twin Cities firm of
Briggs and Morgan.
John was one of the organizers of Minnesota Lawyers Mutual
Insurance Company, which he served for 25 years as its treasurer
and a member of its Board of Directors until stepping down in
2007. He continues to serve on the boards of three privately
owned companies. He is a member of the Board of Visitors of
the University of Minnesota Law School, and previously served on
the boards of Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, the
Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Augustana College, and other civic,
professional, and charitable organizations.
John holds a B.A. degree from Augustana College, a J.D. degree
from the University of Minnesota, and an LL.M. (in Taxation) from
New York University. He is a member of the Minnesota State
Bar Association and the Ramsey County Bar Association.

Vice President of First Lawyers Trust Company
Adam's focus at First Lawyers Trust is developing strong partner
relationships and maintaining sound risk management and operations
practices. Prior to joining First Lawyers Trust, Adam was a
Senior Trust Officer and Financial Planner with Wells Fargo's
Private Bank from 2003 until 2009. He began his financial
services career in 1999, when he joined U.S. Bank as a Contract
Analyst. Still with U.S. Bank, he transitioned to personal
trust administration in 2001.
Adam is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a B.A. in
philosophy and holds designations as both a Certified Financial
Planner (CFP®) and a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA).
He is a member of the Twin Cities Trust and Estate Council and the
Minnesota Financial Planning Association. Additionally, Adam
serves on the boards of the St. Paul Jewish Community Center and
the United Jewish Fund and Council.
